Vol. 506 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Transport.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

395 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department will re-route the school bus to pick up a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who has difficulty in obtaining private transport to her school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14877/99]

As a rule, primary school transport routes are planned so that no eligible child will have to travel more than 1.5 miles to a pick-up point.

The pupil to whom the Deputy refers is availing of school transport. She resides 1.5 miles from the existing pick-up point and 2.2 miles from the school.

As the level of service is within guidelines, I regret that it is not open to my Department to re-route the service as requested.
