649 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo was refused for the summer students' jobs scheme in view of the fact that her application was posted on the closing date. [17574/99]
This year's students' summer jobs scheme was advertised on 14 April last. The closing date of 25 June 1999 was highlighted in the advertisements and on the relevant application forms.
An application form from the person concerned was received in the Department on 29 June 1999. As this was after the closing date for applications under the scheme, it was disallowed as a late claim.
