Ceist:

254 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the application he has received for funding in relation to the provision of traveller accommodation in County Louth in relation to Drogheda Corporation, Louth County Council and Dundalk Urban District Council; the plans, if any, he has to ensure that funds are made available for the provision of halting sites and housing in relation to this mat ter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister of State at the Department of the Environment and Local Government (Mr. Molloy):

There are no applications currently in my Department for funding for traveller accommodation from Drogheda Corporation, Louth County Council or Dundalk Urban District Council. However, approval for funding has been given to Drogheda Corporation for the redevelopment of the halting site at Mell, Drogheda and I understand that the corporation has re-advertised for tenders to carry out the work involved. Any other proposals for funding will be considered on their merits.
