Written Answers - Litter Pollution.

John Gormley

Ceist:

285 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department has statistical evidence from Dublin Corporation to show that action is being taken on the problem of litter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18843/99]

Local authority litter enforcement statistics are available in the Oireachtas Library.

John Gormley

Ceist:

286 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the money, if any, allocated to the National Anti-Litter Forum; and if he will make a statement on the way this money is to be spent. [18845/99]

Money has not been allocated to the National Anti-Litter Forum. The forum's central objective is to review current actions targeting litter pollution and to develop a series of initiatives to enhance and extend these actions through a costed programme of specific added-value measures, including identification of the sources of funding required to implement them. I have asked the forum to report to me within six months of its establishment. The question of any funding by my Department of a programme of measures will be considered in the light of the forum's report.
