122 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Public Enterprise when public service contracts will be introduced between her Department and CIÉ; if Government approval has been given for the memorandum; and if she will set out a timetable for this to be finally implemented. [19343/99]
It is proposed to conclude public service contracts in respect of Bus Átha Cliath and Bus Eireann services and three contracts in respect of the railways, railway infrastructure and mainline and suburban rail services. Most progress has been made on the Bus Átha Cliath contract, on which consultations have taken place with other Government Departments. Work is also in hand on the development of the other contracts, but they are not as advanced as the Bus Átha Cliath contract.
My objective at this stage is to agree contracts which would apply with effect from the financial year 2000.
