Vol. 509 No. 3

Written Answers. - Central Applications Office.

Proinsias De Rossa

Ceist:

100 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will ensure that the CAO will provide a telephone inquiry line in future years to assist students with queries; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20087/99]

The Central Applications Office is a private, non-profit making company limited by guarantee which processes applications centrally on behalf of its member institutions, namely the universities, the colleges of education, the regional technical colleges, the Dublin Institute of Technology and the Higher Education Authority. The CAO also makes its services available to non-member institutions.

My Department does not have any function in relation to the arrangements operated by the CAO.
