Vol. 509 No. 6

Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

287 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Finance if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 389 of 29 September 1999, an income tax rebate will be made immediately to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 14; the amount of rebate due; and the reason no allowance has been made to him in respect of payments being made to his daughter who is in third level college. [21047/99]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer's claim for a refund of tax has been processed and a cheque for the amount of £274.81 issued to him on 20 October 1999. I am further informed that it was not clear from the documentation accompanying the taxpayer's claim whether or not any allowance can be given in respect of payments made to the taxpayer's daughter. The inspector of taxes has written to the taxpayer seeking further information that will enable him to determine if any additional allowance is due.
