Ceist:140 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence the number of appointments to State boards made by him since taking office; if he will give details of each appointment; and the annual payments made to each appointee. [22546/99]
Written Answers. - Ministerial Appointments.
I have, as Minister for Defence, made the following appointments to bodies under the aegis of the Department of Defence.
Army Pensions BoardDr. A. O'Grady, appointed 11 March, 1998. Rate of remuneration – £4,000 p.a.; Lt. Colonel C. Browne, replacement – military member, with effect from 31 March 1999; Commandant C. Leonard, replacement – military member, with effect from 25 August 1999; Lt. Colonel C. Browne, replacement – military member, with effect from 3 November 1999.
No additional remuneration is paid to the military member of the board, who is a serving member of the Permanent Defence Force.
Coiste an AsgardMr. Justice F. Morris, re-appointed 20 February, 1998; Commodore J. Kavanagh, re-appointed 6 October, 1998; Mr. D. Byrne S.C., appointed 25 March, 1999.
There are no payments made to directors of an Coiste an Asgard.
