I presume the Deputy is referring to the business expansion scheme.
The BES was reviewed in 1998 as it was due to finish on 5 April 1999. It was then decided to extend the tax relief for the scheme for a further two years to 5 April 2001 and this was provided for in the Finance Act, 1999. The scheme will be reviewed again before any decision is taken on whether to extend it beyond 5 April 2001. In the meantime, I have no plans to extend the qualifying trades for the BES.
