Vol. 510 No. 3

Written Answers. - Heritage Council.

Phil Hogan

Ceist:

346 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the progress, if any, she is making in respect of the provision of a national headquarters for the Heritage Council at Kilkenny city; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22251/99]

I have been informed by the Heritage Council that it has conducted an extensive examination of available properties in Kilkenny. As a result of this examination, a building has been identified which would appear to have the potential to serve as a headquarters for the Heritage Council. A more thorough examination of the building to determine its suitability for this purpose is now being conducted. Funding for the purchase of a headquarters building has been made available to the Heritage Council.
