Ceist:

189 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will allocate two places on the board of the Fire Services Council to representatives of the retained fire men and women when the current membership expires. [23132/99]

Minister for the Environment and Local Government (Mr. Dempsey):

The fire services council's term of office will expire on 22 January 2000. When I am appointing a new council I will consider the question of representation.
