453 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the position regarding the visitor centre for Ballycroy, Westport, County Mayo; if a site has been selected; and the plans, if any, there are to advance this project. [9971/99]
It is my intention to locate the visitor centre for the National Park in north-west Mayo at or near Ballycroy provided a suitable site can be identified. A request for details of prospective sites was issued through the working group which includes representatives of local bodies in addition to Dúchas and Office of Public Works representatives. Once a site is acquired planning and design of the centre will be processed in the normal manner. I intend applying for funding for this project under the post 1999 tranche of EU Structural Funds.
