395 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science when he will appoint a special needs assistant for a person (details supplied) attending Churchtown national school, Athy, County Kildare and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23422/99]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin):

I am aware of the application to which the Deputy refers.

My Department's inspectorate have been requested to investigate the need for childcare support at the school in question.

Upon receipt of the inspector's report, officials of my Department will contact the school.
