Vol. 511 No. 6

Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

300 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department and the South-Eastern Health Board will review an appli cation for a medical card for a person (details supplied) in Kilkenny; and if his application for a review will be expedited. [25335/99]

The determination of eligibility for medical cards is the responsibility of the chief executive officer of the appropriate health board. I, as Minister for Health and Children, do not have a function in the issue of medical cards to individuals. However, as the determination of eligibility of the person concerned rests with the chief executive officer of the South-Eastern Health Board, I have asked him to have the matter investigated and to reply directly to the Deputy.
