503 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has approved the proposals by Kildare County Council for the provision of a new library at Confey, Leixlip, County Kildare; if agreement has been reached regarding the provision of a community centre and Garda station on the proposed site; and if he will make a statement on the matter. 588 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has approved the proposals by the authorities in County Kildare for the provision of a new library at Confey, Leixlip, County Kildare; if agreement has been reached in respect of the accommodation of youth facilities on this site; when the project will proceed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 503 and 588 together.

Approval to stage two, detailed cost and design, for the development of a branch library at Leixlip, County Kildare issued to Kildare County Council from my Department on 18 November 1999.

It is now a matter for the council to seek tenders in respect of the project. The provision of a community centre and accommodation for youth facilities are matters for the local authority. The provision of a Garda station is a matter for the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform.
