Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Dinny McGinley

Ceist:

683 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of Garda stations in the Glenties division, County Donegal; the number of these stations without the services of a resident sergeant; the plans, if any, he has to appoint sergeants to these stations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1826/00]

I am informed by the Garda authorities who are responsible for the detailed allocation of Garda personnel to individual areas that there are ten Garda stations in the Glenties district – seven of which do not presently have the services of a resident sergeant.

The Glenties district is divided into four sub-districts; Ardara with one sergeant, Glenties with two sergeants, Dungloe with one sergeant and Bunbeg which is currently without a sergeant.

I am, however, further informed by the Garda authorities that consideration will be given to the filling of the sergeant vacancy in Bunbeg along with other vacancies for sergeants in the Donegal division when personnel next become available for allocation.
