Ceist:

451 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the process whereby university vacancies are filled; if the interview board contains a representative from his Department to represent the public interest; and if he has satisfied himself that the present system does not give unfair advantage to internal applicants. In accordance with the provisions of the Universities Act, 1997, the appointment of staff and the selection procedures in relation to such appointments are matters for the governing authority of each individual university.
