Vol. 514 No. 4

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

180 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform it the Land Registry Office will expedite a dealing for persons (details supplied) in County Mayo. [4510/00]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this application refers to a section 49 application – i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession – of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 3 August 1999. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, can take some time to process.

I am further informed that a query issued on 2 November 1999 to the lodging solicitors and the Land Registry await a reply to same. Accordingly the application cannot proceed until this query has been satisfactorily resolved.

However, I can assure the Deputy that on receipt of a satisfactory response the matter will be completed by the Land Registry without delay.
