There is no record in my Department of the receipt of representations, in relation to the county-city development boards, from the bodies referred to by the Deputy. The new county-city development boards – CDBs – are being set up on foot of the recommendations of a task force on the integration of local government and local development systems. The membership of the boards is drawn from local government, mainly councillors, local development agencies, State agencies operating locally, and the social partners. There is nothing in the guidance which issued from my Department which prevents Dúchas from being a body represented as part of the State agency sector on CDBs. It is open to bodies such as An Taisce and heritage groups to seek representation on CDBs through the community-voluntary sector.
