Vol. 515 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Alan Shatter

Ceist:

116 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Health and Children the plans, if any, he has to transfer the paediatric haematology unit in Tallaght Hospital to Crumlin Children's Hospital; the discussions, if any, which have taken place in this regard; and the current position in this regard. [6429/00]

There are no plans to transfer the paediatric haematology unit in Tallaght Hospital to Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin. Last year a submission was made to my predecessor in this regard by medical consultants involved and the matter has been raised with the hospitals. No formal submission has been made to my Department in this regard from the hospitals concerned who I understand are considering the proposals.

When the hospitals have considered the matter and arrived at a decision I will seek advice and views from the National Cancer Forum and the Eastern Regional Health Authority.
