Vol. 516 No. 1

Written Answers. - Control of Farm Pollution Scheme.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

61 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the assistance, if any, which will be afforded to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who carried out work to his farm following a direction from the local authority and was refused a grant under the control of farmyard pollution scheme due to overstocking of livestock units; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7201/00]

The person named is ineligible for grant aid under the national schemes of investment aid for the improvement of dairy hygiene standards and the control of farm pollution as his income units are deemed to exceed the 100 unit maximum limit.

It is a strict condition of all on-farm investment schemes that the prior written approval of my Department must be obtained before the commencement of development work. Accordingly, any works commenced prior to the introduction of the proposed schemes under the national development plan will be ineligible for grant aid.
