The applications in question were refused because it had not been established, on the basis of the documentation supplied, that the applicants' visit would be genuinely short-term in nature. Insufficient information was supplied relating to the applicants' commitments in their country of residence and the income and financial status of the applicants and their sponsors in Ireland. No information was supplied regarding previous visits to Ireland.
It is of course open to the applicants to appeal against the decision by writing to the visa appeals officer together with further information or documentation in support of their applications. If the necessary information can be supplied and it meets the requirements, the visa applications will be approved. My Department will give any advice it can to the applicants and their sponsors in this regard.
