Traditionally the Irish diplomatic presence in Latin America has been of a limited nature. Last year the Government decided to open an embassy in Mexico as a first step towards addressing that issue. The establishment of an embassy in Brazil is currently under consideration within the context of our overall approach towards Latin America.
