Vol. 516 No. 5

Written Answers. - Cycling Promotion.

Ceist:

186 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the steps, if any, his Department has taken to encourage members of staff to cycle to work; and if he will consider a cycling allowance to promote cycling. [8629/00]

My Department has made provision for the parking of bicycles at all our main offices. The question of a cycling allowance to encourage cycling to work would be contrary to the travelling and subsistence regulations issued by the Department of Finance under circular 11/82.
