403 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason a letter of confirmation of £1 million in respect of GMIT Castlebar campus has not been received in view of the announcement in January 1999 that £7 million was being allocated for further developments at GMIT - £6 million to Galway campus and £1 million to Castlebar campus which was confirmed by Department officials; if he will authorise a confirmation letter in view of contracts entered into; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The matter in question is being investigated in my Department. I understand that officials from my Department are having ongoing discussions with GMIT on the level of capital funding available for the development of the GMIT campus in both Galway and Mayo. It is hoped that the matter will be resolved in the near future.
