Vol. 516 No. 6

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Training.

Gerry Reynolds

Ceist:

137 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Defence when the training section of Army head quarters will move to Clonmel; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8783/00]

As I have previously announced it has been decided, in the context of the White Paper on Defence, to decentralise the Directorate of Reserve Forces and the Directorate of Training from Defence Forces Headquarters, Dublin to Kickham Barracks, Clonmel, County Tipperary. Before these transfers can take place, it will be necessary to ensure that suitable accommodation is provided in Clonmel. The infrastructural requirements are at present under examination and when this examination is complete a date for the relocations will be set.
