31 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the staff and increased resources, if any, he has or will make available in each district veterinary office to carry out investigative work on the outbreak of diseases; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The protection of animal and public health is an important part of my Department's mandate and the level of staff resource is kept under continuous review. My Department continually seeks to prioritise its resources and keeps the deployment of staff at all offices under review with the aim of ensuring the best possible service to the farming and agribusiness sectors.
