Vol. 517 No. 3

Written Answers. - Road Hauliers.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

103 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the number of hauliers who have lost their haulage licence due to breaches of the terms of their licence; and the conditions breached in each of these cases. [9801/00]

The information requested is as follows. It is not feasible to check the position prior to 1993, as this would require an inordinate amount of staff time and resources, which is not available.

In 1993, one haulage company had its licence, merchandise, suspended for failure to honour an undertaking to furnish a current tax clearance certificate.

In 1996, one haulage company had its licence, merchandise, revoked for non-compliance with the requirement for good repute. A new licence was subsequently issued on rectification by the company of the good repute position.
In 1999, two hauliers had their licences revoked. One licence – passenger – was revoked for non-compliance with the requirement for good repute. The other licence – merchandise – was revoked for non-compliance with the requirement for professional competence.
