Vol. 517 No. 6

Written Answers. - National Parks.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

338 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if her attention has been drawn to the historical and cultural importance and potential community benefit of Donadea forest, County Kildare; if her attention has been further drawn to the community aspirations for the development of the estate as a national forest park and the restoration of buildings for cultural and community use; her views on the need to protect established and historical rights of way through the forest; if she will encourage voluntary or State agencies or other bodies under her aegis with the objective of the protection, maintenance and development of the forest and its surroundings as part of the national heritage and for the benefit of the wider community; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 639 of 26 January 2000. The position as outlined on that occasion remains the same.
