Vol. 518 No. 4

Written Answers. - Civil Service Recruitment.

Ceist:

163 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, he has to introduce interest free home loans for various public sector workers to live in areas where house price inflation is above the national average; his views on whether this measure will be helpful in terms of attracting more people into public sector jobs in areas such as Dublin city or Cork city; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11942/00]

In so far as conditions of service are concerned, my direct responsibility relates to the Civil Service. Consideration is currently being given to a range of issues designed to attract staff to join the Civil Service in all locations. However, I have no plans to introduce interest-free home loans for Civil Service workers.
