Ceist:313 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of EU countries which fluoridate their water in view of public concern about compulsory water fluoridation. [12581/00]

The following EU countries artificially fluoridate their water: Ireland, the United Kingdom and Spain. Currently in these countries, approximately 12.1 million people are supplied with artificially fluoridated water. Fluoride occurs naturally in other EU countries, including France, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Italy and Belgium.
In addition, EU countries which use fluoridated salt include Germany, France and Belgium.
