Vol. 519 No. 5

Written Answers. - Portumna Forest Park.

Ulick Burke

Ceist:

271 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands when she will meet, as previously requested, representative groups from the Portumna area who are anxious to have a co-ordinated response from Dúchas, the Office of Public Works and Coillte towards the ongoing need to finance and maintain continued repairs, maintenance and development of the forest park in conjunction with the Portumna Castle Project; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [14379/00]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 480 of 21 March 2000 on the subject of Portumna Castle and Forest Park.

The position is that since that reply there has been ongoing discussions between my officials and Coillte. I would hope that this process can be concluded in the near future, at which point the question of meeting with local groups will be given appropriate consideration.
