162 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if there is any grant scheme to encourage private taxi-hackney companies to make their vehicles wheelchair friendly from his Department or from any other source. [15818/00]

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment and Local Government (Mr. Molloy):

Grants have not been available for the purchase or adaptation of vehicles for use as taxis, wheelchair accessible taxis or hackneys. There is no proposal to change this position.
