Vol. 520 No. 4

Written Answers. - Asylum Applications.

Seymour Crawford

Ceist:

199 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the fact that falsified Portuguese documents, obtained in Dublin for £100 each, are being used by Romanians to obtain work in the Monaghan area; his view on this situation; if he will carry out a full inquiry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16109/00]

I regard any falsification of immigration related documentation to enable entry to the State for work or any other purpose as a serious matter. In response to the specific allegation referred to by the Deputy, I am making further urgent inquiries with the Garda authorities and will contact him as soon as more information is available.
