60 Caoimhghin Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Defence if he will make a statement on the proposed involvement of a Defence Forces band in a concert with the band of the Irish Guards Regiment of the British Army in Dublin on 23 June 2000. [15836/00]
As part of the centenary celebrations of the formation of the Irish Guards a visit to Dublin by the regimental band is being organised by the Irish Guards Association in Ireland. The Irish Guards have proposed a joint concert with the Defence Forces No. 1 Band in the National Concert Hall on 23 June 2000. I am agreeable to the proposed participation by the Defence Forces in the concert as visits of this kind are normal between friendly countries.
