119 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the degree to which she will expect to enhance the promotion of Irish culture worldwide in the course of the coming year; the way in which such activity corresponds with the current year; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As I have already indicated in reply to questions in this House, overall responsibility for the promotion of Irish culture abroad is a matter for my colleague, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, through the cultural relations committee of his Department. However, it may be noted that my Department does provide funding to certain organisations including the Arts Council and Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Eireann, which, in turn contribute in various ways to the development of cultural and linguistic links abroad.
