Vol. 523 No. 2

Written Answers. - Suicide Incidence.

Dan Neville

Ceist:

160 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 209 on 13 June 2000 regarding the death of a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary, he has received the report on the matter; and the details of the report. [20826/00]

My Department has received copies of two reports submitted to the Mid-Western Health Board – one from the residential centre that the young person was in the care of and one from the senior social worker for the area which the young person came from. However, it has not been possible for the health board to finalise its report on the case as there is still an outstanding report to be submitted from the mental health service. This is the subject of correspondence between the board and the legal advisors of one member of the board's mental health staff. Until this matter has been resolved I am advised that the board will not be in a position to submit a final report on the matter. I also note that the inquest into this young person's death has not yet taken place.
