253 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands when a Gaeltacht road in County Mayo will be sanctioned for funding in view of the fact it was inspected by Department officials some time ago; the progress made; and when this road will be repaired. [21615/00]
My Department has received an application under scéim na mbóithre áise – accommodation roads scheme – in respect of the road referred to by the Deputy. My Department has asked Mayo County Council to submit an estimate of the cost of improving this road.
I should point out that the funds provided under scéim na mbóithre áise for 2000 have already been allocated. However, the application will be taken into account when applications under the scheme are again being considered.
