141 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health and Children if funding is available to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 1 to cover the cost of dental implants in view of the fact her medical card only covers the cost of the dentures. [22589/00]
Dental treatment services to adult medical card holders is provided under the dental treatment services scheme. The scheme includes a range of routine treatment items, that is, scaling and polishing, fillings, extractions, endodontic treatment, periodontic treatment and denture treatment. The scheme does not extend to the provision of non-routine high cost items such as dental implants.
