Vol. 524 No. 3

Written Answers. - Harbours and Piers.

David Stanton

Ceist:

62 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources his views on the proposals put forward by Youghal Chamber of Commerce and Tourism and others regarding a proposed marina development in Youghal, County Cork; his advice on the best way to proceed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22625/00]

Under the National Development Plan 200-2006 a figure of IR£20 million over the seven year period has been allocated to the marine leisure and tourism sector. This amount is made up of IR£14 million for the Border, midlands and western area and IR£6 million for the south and eastern area. The focus of the marine tourism measure will be marine access infrastructure. The scheme is currently being drawn up and is not expected to be launched until early next year. Until the scheme is launched and formal application forms and procedures are in place, applications are not being accepted. However, those parties who have expressed an interest in the scheme, of which Youghal is one, will be sent details of the scheme when available.
