Vol. 524 No. 4

Written Answers. - Swimming Pool Projects.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

141 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the recommended temperature for public swimming pools. [22738/00]

The technical guidelines for the planning, approval and financing of swimming pools which relate only to proposals for the provision of new swimming pools or the refurbishment of existing pools submitted by or through local authorities for support under my Department's swimming pool programme, include recommendations in relation to pool temperature. These recommendations are that the heating unit should be capable of maintaining the pool water at a temperature of 27ºC and the ambient air temperature in the pool building at not less than 28ºC when the temperature outside is 0ºC.
