104 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the impact the special waiting list initiative, formulated by the Western Health Board in conjunction with his Department, has had on the waiting list problems in orthodontics; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22761/00]

At my invitation the Western Health Board and other health boards submitted proposals to my Department to significantly reduce orthodontic waiting lists.

I will be responding shortly to the Western Health Board on these proposals in the context of the Estimates for my Department for 2001.
