Ceist:

220 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of cases of tuberculosis which were reported in hospitals in each of the years from 1997 to 1999 and to date in 2000 on a county by county basis. [23588/00]

Information is not available as to whether tuberculosis cases were notified to health boards by hospitals. The total number of cases of the disease notified in 1997 was 416. However, a county-by-county breakdown of this figure is not available.

In respect of the years 1998, 1999 and the period January to June 2000, the number of cases of tuberculosis notified, broken down on a county basis, is as follows:
