Vol. 524 No. 6

Written Answers. - Border Inspections.

Proinsias De Rossa

Ceist:

147 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the facilities that exist for temperature control of meat products at Border inspection posts; the Border inspection posts which are currently recognised; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23414/00]

Temperature control facilities for meat products are provided at Border inspection posts. Facilities available to the ports include the use of purpose built cold stores at ambient, chilled or frozen temperature, depending on the control requirement necessary for the product imported. For consignments received at airports chill facilities are available to store product if required. The Border inspection posts currently approved are Dublin Airport, Dublin Port, Cork Port and Shannon Airport.

Question No. 148 taken with Question No. 94.

Question No. 149 withdrawn.
