Vol. 525 No. 1

Written Answers. - State Examinations.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

192 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science if the special arrangements, for example, a tape recorder afforded to students who sat the junior certificate in 2000, will be afforded to them in their leaving certificate examinations and, if so, when they can make application to his Department. [23774/00]

Decisions in relation to special arrangements are taken having regard to the circumstances of each individual case. My Department takes these decisions in the first instance within a published framework of principles.

My Department normally invites applications for special arrangements one year in advance of the examination concerned. I have also ensured the availability of an independent appeal forum where a student is unhappy with any aspect of my Department's decision.
