194 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will confirm receipt of an application from the board of management of Presentation national school, Mullingar, County Westmeath, for funding to provide safety measures, including advance warning lights at or near the location of the school; when the funding will be provided for this important safety work; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has received an application from the board of management of Presentation national school, Mullingar, for funding to provide safety measures at the school.

While my Department is prepared to consider applications from school authorities for grant aid towards improving safety arrangements at individual schools, grant aid is not available for works outside the vested area of the school.
