195 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science when his Department will give final approval to a school (details supplied) in County Westmeath for additional accommodation and for the installation of safety gates at this school, together with other safety accommodation works at this location; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In response to an application from the school in question for accommodation for an additional teacher, my Department approved the rental of a portacabin in July this year to cater for the school's short-term needs. An examination of the school's long-term accommodation requirements is being carried out and this will be completed as soon as possible.
No application has been received in respect of safety gates or other safety works at the school.
