245 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she has monitored the price of petrol, home heating oil and motor diesel over the past 12 months; if she will indicate the movement in the level of these prices and in the percentage increase in price; if she has satisfied herself that the trends in these prices reflect movements in world oil prices and do not indicate any extra profit-taking on the part of distributors; and if she will make a statement on the matter. While the Director of Consumer Affairs carries out occasional surveys of the price of petrol with a view to enhancing consumer awareness of price variations and the need to shop around for value, I am unable to give the statistics requested by the Deputy, as these are not collected by my Department.
