Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Transport.

John Perry

Ceist:

836 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 408 of 17 October 2000, he has received a letter dated 30 August 2000 from a person (details supplied) in County Sligo in reply to a letter form his Department dated 24 August 2000; if he will again have examinations made into his school transport situation and resolve the outstanding difficulties; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23927/00]

I am aware of the correspondence to which the Deputy refers.

In reply to the Deputy's parliamentary question of 17 October 2000 I stated that my Department was unable to trace an application for transport in the case in question due to the absence of details on the school involved.

I have now had this matter investigated and I am pleased to inform the Deputy that, from the commencement of the current school year, my Department has sanctioned a dedicated taxi service for the pupil in question and one other pupil attending the school.
