243 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will consider increasing the grant for the provision or necessary improvement of an individual water supply to a house; if he will approve grant aid in respect of a single connection to a group water scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In the case of new group water schemes, or extensions to existing schemes serving two or more houses, grants are payable at the group grant rate in respect of each house connecting to the scheme. I have no proposals at this time to review the current level of grant assistance for the provision of new or improved water supplies to single houses or to introduce grant assistance in respect of new single house connections to existing group or public water supply networks.
